What Is Meadowbrook?

- By Dorothy Smith, who lives there...

Centrally located in beautiful Norfolk is a place called Meadowbrook.  It is Norfolk's Senior Housing. To the residents who live in the twenty eight apartments, it is home.
Yes, there is a meadow and a brook.  We have had some interesting visitors in our meadow, among them deer, squirrels, pheasants and a blue herron.  A few years ago we even had a moose come by for a visit.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated Board of Directors and Manager who do a good job looking after our interests.  Carl Gabelmann and Peter Mulville are always right there to make sure things are running smoothly.  Thanks to our housekeeping staff, our building stays immaculate and beautiful.
Meadowbrook is a place where people care for people.  You can always find one with a willing heart and helping hand to do anything from replacing a light out in the hall to opening a hard-to-open jar of pickles for a neighbor.
Lunch is served in our beautiful dining room. Topics discussed at lunch include old songs (some times we even sing them) to politics and the world situation.  No idle minds here!
A lively group gathers on Tuesday nights for activities such as cards and dominoes.  Refreshments are served and the evenings end with one of our residents playing the piano.  Wednesday mornings are times for Bible study and Mah-jong in the afternoons.  Have you ever played Layer Cake Bingo?  That is just one of the many types of Bingo we play on Thursday nights.
This Summer we will have our fifth annual Ice Cream Social.  It is held on our beautiful lawn featuring a free concert with music by Jerry Carillo and his band.
If you have never been to Meadowbrook, come by for a visit.  We would love to show you around!
