Back Bay Mission
By Rev. Shari Prestemon
Thank you for the gift so generously shared with Back Bay Mission. We are humbled by your trust in us, and pledge to be good stewards of all you have given. The one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina has come and gone. It was a moment for reflecting on these chaotic twelve months now past, giving thanks for perseverance in this long struggle of recovery and the many companions that have joined us on this journey. Although it has been an incredibly difficult time, we are ever aware that we are richly blessed, in spite of everything. God has given us ministry to do, and we are doing it!
Volunteer workgroups from throughout the UCC continue to flow through Back Bay Mission, allowing us to work diligently at the housing rehabilitation tasks now so essential to the Gulf Coast’s recovery. We continue to be one of very few agencies on the Gulf Coast providing substantial assistance with emergency needs. It is a joy to reflect that we have refused to let the horrific disaster of one year ago inhibit or minimize the mission given to us by God. It has instead been an invitation to new life and new ministry, strengthened by God’s grace. Thank you for joining us in that adventure of faith and service
